Are you planning on making improvements to your existing house? Are you planning on purchasing a house? The Greater Metropolitan Housing Corporation’s HousingResource Center™ can help you, and the services are free.

The HousingResource Center™ concept is that it is a “one-stop” shop for a broad array of housing information and services available in one location. Through a one-on-one consultation process, the information is tailored to the individual circumstances of the family, the property and generates problem solving that is personal and practical. The staff at the HousingResource Center™ provides information on a variety of housing related topics including referrals for first time homebuyers and rental information, home maintenance and safety; as well as mortgage refinancing and foreclosure prevention programs. They also provide information on home improvement financing programs for St. Paul residents and are a lender for the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency home improvement programs. In addition to these services, the Construction Manager on staff will provide information on construction; conduct site visits with homeowners regarding home improvements concerns; prepare a written scope of work or a list of work for contractors to bid from; assist in reviewing contractor bids, proposals and estimates in the planning stage; and assist homeowners during the construction process.

The HousingResource Center’s™ primary goals are to reduce the number of substandard housing units in each participating community, assist homeowners to complete home improvement projects, assist individuals and families to become new homeowners and improve the image of neighborhoods as desirable places to live.
